Tosca Musk, the sister of billionaire Elon Musk, has begun shooting her new film, Wallbanger, in Nerja. The South African-Canadian director and producer “fell in love” with the holiday destination, according to the town hall, on a visit this summer, and that is why she wanted to film in some of its most spectacular areas, such as the Balcón de Europa, the descent to El Salon beach and Calahonda beach, among others.

New Nerja Tourist Train
City Sightseeing, the open-top bus tour company which operates in cities such as Malaga and Seville in Andalucía, as well as major cities around the world, inaugurated a sightseeing train in Nerja in December.
Nerja is the eighth Andalusian destination for the multinational company and the sixteenth in the whole of Spain. While the company usually uses open-top red buses in large cities, it has opted for a road train for its latest project.

Tourist train link to Caves
A new mini-train for tourists will connect Nerja caves with the town’s historic centre.
The scenic route will also feature a stop at the small fishing village of Maro with the aim of boosting trade there, as well as at Verano Azul park.

Nerja in demand for TV shoots
NERJA continues to be one of the most requested settings for TV productions and this time it was an Estonian channel that chose the town.
A team from National Estonian Television (ETV) visited Nerja to shoot a tourism programme titled Reisile Minuga (Travel with Me), a weekly production featuring Nerja and other Andalucian towns.

New App for Nerja Caves
The Nerja Caves Foundation has launched a new free app, available for Android and iOS, which provides all sorts of information, in four languages, for visitors to the Caves and the Nerja History Museum.
Users can choose between Spanish, English, French and German and there is information about tickets, times, facilities, cultural heritage, links to online tickets, a locator, descriptions of various areas in the Caves, data about the Museum and more.

Camera crews in Nerja this summer
This month over a dozen film crews, both national and international, will be filming in Nerja. The filming of an advert by a Dutch company is just one of the many productions going on in Nerja this month.
Euromedia Productions have been filming off the coast of Maro and Cerro Gordo. The production company knows the area well as they have filmed there before; last year they filmed part of the German film “Alles inclusive” by Doris Dorrie and the pilot of a Russian series entitled “Sunny Side of the Street”.

The Nerja Caves foundation has organised a series of free activities to mark the celebrations of the 12th Week of Science.
These will allow the public to explore the natural heritage and culture of the caves and understand the results of the scientific investigations that take place there.

BRITISH TV channel Channel 4 will be in Nerja to film an episode of its lifestyle show A Place in the Sun.

LONG-HAIRED tourists were offered an unusual diversion from their holidays when they got roped in to the latest film being shot in Nerja. The group joined local residents in a scene at Calahonda beach, which was meant to depict a hippy commune.
